HTC Customer Service in India

by venukb on April 29, 2008

Many of the visitors who land on my HTC related posts have contacted me to know more details on HTC Customer Service. I was initially surprised as to why these users couldn’t get this data via Google.

I did a search for HTC India on Google only to find crappy pages listed on the first page of search results.

There is not even a link to the global HTC site and this pretty much explained the reason for the number of people contacting me to know more on HTC customer service in India.

HTC does have a dedicated portal for customers in India. Unfortunately it doesn’t show up in Google search and the only way to find this to navigate via the HTC International home page

HTC India - http://www.htc.com/in/default.aspx

HTC provides support over Phone, Email and if it still doesn’t help you can walk into any of the customer care centers listed below:

Hi Venu,

I ordered online for hands free stereo bluetooth headsets for my HTC but was disappointed to see that my mobile isn’t listing the device at all (it is Plantronics Voyager 855). Currently, I use a mono headset and wanted to go in for stereo headset.

Later, when I visited a store nearby to have their advice, I was informed that if the headset was paired to a device, it can’t e paired to another unless it is dis-associated with the first mobile!! Though their reasoning was tough to accept, I wanted to check if you had faced something similar with your HTC (my friend who brought it across had tried it with his mobile to confirm the purchase and now he is in Blore while I am in Chn!!).

Thanks,
Ajith.

Ajith,
I have tried pairing with Jabra headset and have not run into a situation where I tried to pair one more headset with the same handset.

The headset as such should support pairing with multiple handsets. However the device probably should pair with only one bluetooth headset.

The incoming calls/voice has to be diverted to the bluetooth headset and it pretty much creates a situation where the handset has to pick one of the headsets and I am sure there is no concept of active bluetooth device.

So try removing the existing device and try adding the Plantronics and let me know how it went !

Hi Venu,

After many trials I was able to solve the problem this morning. I shutdown all devices and mobiles and started my mobile. Once it was ready, I switched on the Plantronics headset and put it pairing mode. A bluetooth device search in my mobile picked it up seamlessly. I wonder why id didn’t connect earlier but am pleased that it did now (also it saved the headset a trip and back from Blr had I gone ahead with the advice of the tech guys in the mobile shop!!)

BTW, the headset performance is very good – the noise free sound quality is very good and it has been the feedback from those who I conversed. Though the stereo output lacks in bass, I would recommend this product for anyone who wants to go for a stereo headset for the convenience and call quality it offers: http://www.plantronics.com/north_america/en_US/productfinder/productlist.jhtml?refresh=all&mftr=HTC&_requestid=1114716

Thanks
Ajith

File conversion problem,

I have bought HTC-’Touch three days back and it gives error ‘file type conversion’,

It shows Jpeg format in the storage device , and i wonder why should it get problem in transferring files, it does work fine other way round.

Secondly , the cube panning doesnt work either!

I am disappointed with its features and functionalities.

Could anyone please make me feel good about this phone ?! HTC Touch

The service centers for HTC are the worst managed, horribly located in the service industry. My P3400 in warranty schedule has been lying with the service centre at Grant Road for 4 weeks now, and still not repaired. The retailer Croma/ HTC area sales manager and the service :Salora Intl Manager are yet asking for more time.

Hi,

I purchased a HTC S710 and somehow the display got broken and i had to go to their service centres.
My experience is that DO NOT BUY ANY HTC PHONE or make sure that if some after sale problem arises, you will have to throw away the handset.

When I entered the service centre( I did that in Noida centre), i was surprised to see that 3 other service centres are being run by the same guy( unlike nokia that has so many dedicated service centres).
He took 70/- from me to start with( no issues..) and then kept the phone with a delivery promise within a week.

After that 4 weeks passed by, the guys there don’t even pick the phone.
In the mean time i mailed HTC website also and got a normal inquiry reply from them, but no mails and no result of that.
Ultimatelly my 15000/- have washed down the drained and phone is lying useless.

In short , though i feel that HTC brand is good, but with my experience, after sale is equally important, and thats probably one of the reason , nokia is a market leader

I have the worst experience from HTC customer care service. The centre is on Tilak Road, Pune. It runs 3 different brand’s service and most of queries were from Sony Ericsson.
My P3400i handset failed to detect the attached headphone. I landed my handset to the person for check and after half hour examination and one hour wait, I was told that your handset repairing can take upto 25 days?!!! Surprisingly!!! I went away and entered different customer care centre, and there was no such customer centre there. I emailed this issues to HTC stating that your website and email gives wrong details to customers. Why don’t you update and help me.
Next day, I got the call from HTC India, and executive connected me to Salora’s Manager. I went there on second day and after two day, I got my handset wrongly repaired.
The handset was having Windows OS 5.0 and can’t function properly. When I asked why it’s so, he told me that ” Sir, I replaced the hardware which came from company…” .
I said, ” I am from computer domain, and I know what you did with my handset, simple flashing is not the replacement of hardware. ” Then he said, “Sir, I will upgrade it tomorrow…”.
After using it for one day, it hangs and stop functioning. I went to the centre again and asked for correction. The reply was, ” Sir, I tried, but I can’t flash it, I have to send it to company and it will take 2-3 working days.”
Having no option, I handover the handset. Today is 23 rd day, and till I am struggling, HTC india (in_service@htc.com) stopped replying me. The service centre executive has stopped picking up my call, landline number of service centre is not working….. Many visits, many email, many call everything is vain.
Please don’t go for HTC handset. You will never get on time real support.
If you need complete details you can contact me ( even executive from HTC), I will happy to share complete data including emails. you can reach me on gaurav[dot]raval on gmail. IMs are also welcome..
MY PERSONAL ADVICE: DON’T EVER GO FOR HTC HANDSET AT LEAST IF YOU ARE IN INDIA….

Nitin – Are you copying the files using ActiveSync? It does the conversion based on the file type. Cube panning hmm. not sure what the problem is.

Omkar – You might want to check if the problem is with the Memory card itself. you can try using it with a PC(Memory card reader). If its still trouble, you should use the warranty on the phone.

Aditya – I hope you got your problem fixed :)

Vikas – You can check with Ebay(online)-else you might have to visit the popuar mobile store in your city
Maniche – If I were you, I would have looked at Blackberry 8820. Check in Indiaplaza.in. Its available at 18K

I haven’t had any bad experience with HTC till now. But I guess after seeing all your views on the service, I am kind of worried. But I guess that risk was there the minute I bought HTC
It wasn’t well known atleast when I bought, hopefully their service will improve over the period of time

I bought a brand new HTC Touch phone in Vivek’s in Mylapore, Chennai towards the end of Sep,08. A month later, the phone started giving problems. When the charge is low and the phone is connected to power, it would reboot completely and also show an error message saying that the SIM card is missing. I was out of country on business work for 6 weeks. After I came back, I took the phone to the nearest servicing center (RT Outsourcing Service Ltd in Egmore) and told them of the problems. They called me and told me that there is corrosion in one of the boards and it is not covered under the warranty. This is a brand new phone and I did not misuse it in anyway (I did not put it in water or drop it). I called the 1800 HTC support number and was told to send a email to in_service@htc.com with the details. I did that and not sure what is going to happen next. It looks like I would have to forget the phone and just move on. I think buying the HTC was a big mistake. We need to spread the word so that HTC does not keep ripping people off.

I am in need of a windows mobile device; enquired with the technical help centre they suggest one of the below models :

HTC TOUCH 3G
HTC P3452
HTC P3400i

After running through your site; I see a lot of complaints about HTC & their service centre.

Which is the best model in Windows Mobile devices I should opt for…
My budget is 10K (approx); may be ready to pay a little more if the handset is worth buying :-)

Please guide, Thanks in advance.

Bad Customer Services in Lucknow, U.P, INDIA.

I have a HTC P-3452( touch phone), its hardly 5 months that I have purchsed this phone and its LCD display broke down without any shock ob the phone. I just received a call and immediately after that I found that then the display was broken.

This clearly brings out the poor quality that is being used in developing HTC phones.

And added to that, when i approahed the customer services at Lucknow, I was told that they dont have the LCD right away and might take 10 days to get it from Delhi. This means that I will not be able to use my phone for atleast 10 days.

And on top of that, I will have to spend 3500Rs to get it mended.

This cheap quality of products and poor customer services were not at all expected from a brand like HTC.

Hope I will get a positive response.

I request everybody to stay away from HTC mobile as customer service provider is really bad. Dont repent after buying it. People in HTC service center dont pick calls of customers and if at all they pick also they will not give you any updates and information.

Most unreliable mobile devices – HTC

I proudly owned the HTC Touch during Aug’07 and was happy using it for a while.

After few months the battery used to get drained out very quickly say within 10-12 hours with a talk time of around 1 hour. This problem was reported at the R T Outsourcing Services Ltd, Bangalore. It was attributed to the usage and general reasons.

Further, Since Oct’08, the phone started hanging very often, calls getting disconnected and phone getting switched off just after the call or just when a call is received.
Again, the Bangalore service center was contacted couple if times, the fix was reinstall of OS once and later during Dec’08 the instrument was opened up to check any faults. Any specific fault was not identified, but as alternate it was suggested to replace the mother board. Which approx costs close to the price of a new instrument.

I was a proud owner of the HTC touch as well as brand advocate in my professionl and friends cirlces, which has influenced quite a few of them to own the HTC touch phone.

I am still persuing for a repair of my device at minimal cost with HTC, the delhi service center people are talking well and trying to help, but the service center people are not capable of doing anything beyong software reinstall (so pathetic), these people cant do anyting at the hardware level.

As of today I have no confidence on the reliability of the HTC devices. In contrast, Nokia devices are much more reliable. Am not sure the device I got at the cost of Rs.19,000 is worth any more than a paper weight!!!

Hoping that the HTC will repair or give a buyback option for my device.

Keeping my final comments waiting for the issue resolution :(

HTC device fault – solution – replace mother board – ridiculous.

Think before you buy. Reliability is a key factor for any device selection above the features.

Bangalore – RT Outsourcing – 40505999 (Langford Road) / Salora 41662360 (HSR Layout)

At both places dont expect anything other then software (OS) reinstall or mother board / display panel change. In simple terms they cant do anything more then screwdriver technology!!!

HTC service centers has again demonstrating their capability.
Same answer Change Mother Board costing 14K, where as I can get a new phone for 12.5K in Jayanagar, Bangalore. So ridiculous :(

Somehow, the HTC service center at Delhi seems to be a bit customer caring, ofcourse long wait in every call I make to Delhi on STD is adding up to my mobile bills. They are attempting to escalate the issue to their HQ (India / Taiwan not sure) and give a resolution to the issue of Frequent powering off or automatic reboot (which goes to sleep and I have to make umpteen attempts to bring it to life).

Guys for your knowledge base:
When I ask the service center “Is this a common problem?” the answer is “NO”. I counter question them so this unique problem?
When I put down my argument like
a. If this is acommon problem – HTC should have a solution
b. If this is “Unique” problem for which HTC does not have a solution yet – HTC should come running to pick up the device and use the findings for product quality improvement.

And you guess the answer ……

Absolute …. Silence
Inference ….. Confused ………. Not my concern….. We cant understand all this high funda logical arguments :( or …. we are just service executives geared up only to talk on phone but do not have any brains ?

End of it: I am ready to change my opinion about HTC only if I get a proper resolution :) Fair play?

ohhhhhhhh!
Its finally a great relief. I can postpone my phone replacement plan for sometime.

The good news is that after constant follow ups and escalations. The patience has paid. Finally HTC service center agreed to repair my device under warranty scheme and replaced the mother board. So the phone is brand new again but for the casing, display and battery.

I can now vouch and say that HTC really cared for a customer, and considered the requests to repair the device.

Hi,

I have a HTC Touch phone which a purchased about a year ago. Today I switched from Airtel to Vodafone and my phone is not accepting the SIM.

I was told that Airtel had some tie-up with HTC due to which only Airtel SIM cards will function on HTC Touch.

My phone requires a code that will unlock the same. Can someone help me please. I’ll be grateful if someone can drop in a mail to me with the code.

Waiting for your mail at rohitverma50@gmail.com

Thanks in anticipation.

Dear Mr. Venu, from the above comments, I’ve derived at a point that you are some person of help to those who are in trouble using htc mobiles. I’m also one among them. I will be much happy if you would inform me via e mail, the address and phone number of any htc service centre in Kerala (preferably near Trivandrum). Nothing is seen on the screen of my mobile- only some patches of colours. thtat’s the problem. Would you please give me some suggestion regarding this?
Thanking you, Nisha

Dear all,
I had problems repairing my HTC mobile phone from their service centers. My phone was declared out of warranty and gave me an estimate of Rs.7500/-. Then I got the contact no of Phonecare Moble Repair center. They picked my phone from my office and delivered back to my office. They charged me just Rs.950/-. The phone is working very well. I will share the contact no. if any one wants to repair HTC. 022 28015311 / 9870436796. (www.phonecare.in)

Intersting bit –
i purchased the HTC MAgic for a heartbreaking 30k last week.
Now i discover that my Android phone does not have any Google applications in it – including Android Market – essentially that means that without Androd Market – none of the Google Applications can EVER be downloaded, since they are all available only @ the Market for Android phones.

Now, for 30k i have a phone which can make calls and send sms – and i cant even use the GPS on it with google maps cuz u cant install java based google maps available on the site !!! terrific.

keep ur money or get an iPhone.

i guess ur on the wrong track my friend. look for google market android services and from there u can get all the applications you want for ur mobile phone.
then u wont say its a daylight robbery rather u would appreciate its innovativeness and technology.

bbye n take care n enjoy ur android phone. its state of the art technology!! :)

Hi, i have purchased a HTC 4350 from Mobile Kingdom vashi . Mumbai for 18500/- INR. Within 3 months it started giving the problem of key pad not working and function operating automatically. Since the phone was in warrenty i gave the mobild to mobile kindgom shop in vashi for servicing which they forwared to some service center in saki naka. andheri. Now after 25 days of waiting, the fate of my mobile is unknown. Service center people are just lying to me about the delivery date of moible. I would say HTC is the worst worst worst worst mobile phone on the planet. Please dont buy and waste you hard earned money. Bloody product does not work for 3 months or so which a normal nokia phone like 1100 work better and also there is no response from the service center. You are helplesss and you are looted.

HTC instrument is good but as reiterated umpteen number of times in this post, the customer service and post sale service absolutely sucks. My phone went kaput within the warranty period and was given to the service centre for repairs. They made me to-and-fro for nearly a month and a half before I wrote a stinker on their website. Got a call from their executive and the phone was delivered within two/three days. The guys at the service centre took out their grudge by ripping off my screen protector and scratching the surface. I mean this is cheap business ethics. My HTC battery is dying down now and I am really apprehensive about going to the service centre again.. maybe I will just dump this mobile and get another WM6 device from another vendor. Don’t think it needs reiteration but please stay away from HTC phones in India.

I have HTC touch phone. IT worked well for more han 1 ahd half year, One day it suddenly restarted and I saw all my data is gone! after that my battery draining problem started. fully charged battery last for 12-15 hours even in idle state. (My phone used to work for 2 days in one full charge).
I have tried another battery, same thing happened with that battery too. So I came to the conclusion that the problem is in hardware. I took the handset to HTC care in pune, (HTC care, near Tilak Hotel, Off Tilak Road Sadashiv Peth, Pune). That guy, after testing told me that there is fault in PCB (Process Control Unit) and it will take 11000.00 (Eleven thousand rupees). MIND BLOWING!!!!!
Anybody here expreienced the same problem of battery draining? Or any pointers to the repairing center.

I love the HTC phone that I have but the SERVICING is pathetic…absolutely no infrastructure for proper support facilities. With regret, I must say that I am moving back to picking up Nokia…not that I don’t like Nokia but well, I moved to HTC as liked the touch screen…

By the way, the service center listed here for Mumbai is long outdated…it is a pathetic place where the service center is located and the whole attitude there is ridiculous (I had already been there once!) but it is now almost 4 months since they have moved out of Vikhroli..am still trying to find out the exact place in Grant Road where they have moved.

It would have been still ok to have just ONE service center if only they would give their customers service at home to pick and drop the phones after repair!!

IS SOMEONE AT HTC listening?? This way, you will surely lose your HTC touch screen customers to Nokia!

Hi,

I bought HTC Touch P3450, and it is having network connectivity issue these days. I visited HTC Service @HSR Layout, Bangalore. I learnt from them that it is due to a Network IC PRoblem in the device. But, They have suggested me to replace the mother board itself, with an estimate of 14,000 INR.

Why don’t they replace the defective part alone? I was even ready to pay reasonable cost, but disappointed to learn that they can’t provide a solution.

I have finally written to HTC INdia support directly, and hoping for some reply.

Let’ see. I will keep you folks posted on what happens!! :-(
