Live TV on Konkan.tv

by venukb on July 9, 2007

The success of YouTube has spawned a lot of clones in India. My earlier post here covers some of the popular video sharing sites in India.

Konkan.tv one of the popular sites among that list has now launched “Live Television“. This is what the owner of the site, Rohan Pinto had to say about the new service.

The Live TV service is 100% free and is aimed at bridging the east and the west. There are “desi” channels for folks far away from home to connect with, and international channels for folks back home to enjoy western broadcasts for free.

Streaming speeds are totally dependent on the end users bandwidth speed. Also some channels are not 24/7 and may not be available all the time as the live stream is based on the actual broadcast time.

There are about 35 live TV channels available on Konkan.tv. I hope the site improves on the categorization of the channels, this would make it easier to access content of interest.

I did try to access CNBC TV 18 from my workplace and it did work well with the limited bandwidth.

This is awesome. thanks for pointing out this site and the new feature. The live tv is really excellent !!!

yes, i agree also. if there is a better categorization of the live tv channels it would be easier to access it and choose the live channel to watch.

I tried accessing CNBC TV 18 from my workplace and it was playing well, even in full screen mode.. maybe it could be because the bandwidth at my workplace is very high..

but hey. this is a good start.. i see that there are over 44 channels now. so it looks like the list is growing…

i agree with you. KONKAN TV should categorize the channels because loading a long list of channels on 1 page takes time…

There are many other sites which are offering live tv and many more channels than konkan.
Some I know are layfile.com and desitvshows.com.

Let me know if you know any other sites.
