Godfather vs Shawshank Redemption
I keep a regular check on the IMDB Top 250 to see if any new movies have made it to the elite list. Today I noticed that both Godfather and Shawshank Redemption have got the same weighted rating of 9.1
(I am not sure it was the same few months back, I guess Shawshank had a mean rating of 9 I believe)
Even though Shawshank has more number of votes (296,165 vs 250,516) compared to Godfather, its still placed at No 2.
I had a look at the formula used by IMDB
I am not sure if 9.1 is the weighted rating

Lost Season 4 Trailer
I have been a BIG fan of Lost TV Series. I saw the first 2 seasons on DVD and managed to see almost all the episodes of Season 3 on Star Movies. I am not sure what hooks me to this program; its probably got to do with the direction and a little with the unique style in which each characters story is told.
Wikipedia does in better job in describing the unique episode format of Lost
Episodes have a distinct structure: following a recap of events relevant to the upcoming narrative, each show begins with a cold open. Often a close up of a character's eye will follow. At a dramatic juncture, the screen cuts to black

Launchy 2.0
One of my favorite tools, Launchy just got upgraded to 2.0. As the website says, Launchy is an utility desinged to help us forget about the start menu in Windows. I have recommeneded this tool to many of my friends and not one of them have complained about it. Its like a "must have" tool for Windows.
The new version has been completely written in QT and hence the old plug-ins and skins will no longer work. The old configuration will also be wiped with the upgrade to 2.0
The options are now merged into a single preference dialog.

Airtel 8Mbps in Action
In my last post, I had mentioned about the new 8Mbps plan being introduced by Airtel. I opted for the 1299 (4GB download limit) plan and the same got activated yesterday.
Activation would have been happened much earlier if I wasn't on the commercial segment ! To activate the 1299 plan, I had to rollback to the home segment !
I just did a couple of test downloads and saw the blazing download speed of more than 1MB/second ! Exactly "8" years ago, I had bought a 56kbps D-Link Modem and was downloading at 200bits/sec and gradually saw it increasing to 1-2kbps. We have come a long way since

Airtel introduces 8mpbs
Airtel has now introduced 8mpbs plans in India. Airtel happens to be the first operator offering this speed for resedential segment.
Even though the news of this plan has been doing rounds from the past few weeks, nothing was put up on the official web site till now.
Here is the list of plans available on 8mpbs
I might try out the 1299 plan for a month and see how it goes. Meanwhile I am hoping to see some good plans to be introduced under 2mpbs speeds !
How many of you are already on 8mpbs plan ?

New Printer - HP C6188
Just got myself a new printer : HP Photosmart C6188
By the way its not just a printer, its also a copier, scanner and a fax machine ! The scanner and copier is definitely of some use; not sure how extensively I would use the fax feature, but I did manage to get it up and running ! (with my existing DSL setup)
I did spend considerable amount of time researching the printers available in India before finalizing on HP C6188 !
And currently I am spending more time to get "all" the features of "all in one" printer working on Vista :( (There are issues when I switch

PocketCM Keyboard
In one of my earlier post, I mentioned a couple of popular keyboard applications for smartphone/pocket PC running Windows Mobile operating system. One of the reader of that post, Idan pointed me to another cool virtual keyboard application from PocketCM.
The keyboard does look a lot like the iPhone keyboard and works a lot better compared to the default keyboard application. Check the official video below to see PocketCM keyboard at work.

Windows Mobile Device Center
After upgrading to Windows Vista, setting up the communication between Vista and my HTC Touch was a PITA ! And I would like give the entire credit of this pain to Vista !
On Windows XP, Activesync did a very good job in syncing with the smartphone and I also managed to synchronize over Bluetooth. When I plugged in the handset (via USB) to the vista upgraded laptop, the windows mobile device center opened up and showed the connection status as "Connected".
The dialog box looked something like this:
Open "Windows Mobile Device Center" and you are treated with a dialog box with 2 check boxes (as
