Flickr – Change in upload limits

by venukb on December 14, 2006

I was just complaining in my earlier post regarding the 2GB upload limit for the Pro account and today Flickr announced that they have now removed the upload limit restrictions for the Pro Account. And the upload limit for the free account has been upped from 20MB to 100MB :)

With the Flickr Free account you now get:

  • 20 MB 100 MB monthly upload limit
  • 3 photosets
  • Photostream views limited to the 200 most recent images
  • Storage of smaller (resized) images Only smaller (resized) images acessible (though the originals saved in case you upgrade later)

With a Flickr Pro Account you now get:

  • 2 GB Unlimited monthly upload limit
  • Unlimited storage
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Unlimited photosets
  • Permanent archiving of high-resolution original images
  • The ability to replace a photo
  • Ad-free browsing and sharing

The free upgrade is useless since they still only let you have 200 photos.

…And every photo I upload causes one to get deleted. No thanks. They really need some intermediate membership levels. Most people don’t need that much storage or bandwidth.

I thought that “200 photos” was a restriction only on the photostream
I guess the photos are not deleted ! Correct me if I am wrong !
