Google Special Search

One problem of extensively using the Google Toolbar (Browser Toolbar) for search is that you will miss some of the customized search features that Google provides.

I just happened to stumble upon Google’s Special Search feature. The special search allows you to narrow your search based on a specific topic.

Currently the following specialized services are available:

  1. Google’s University Search enables you to narrow your search to a specific school website. You can try it for things like admissions information, course schedules, or alumni news.

  2. Wonder why only US Government, this can be definitely extended to other countries. It will really be very useful.

  3. Google Apple Macintosh – Search for Apple/Macintosh-related sites using GoogleGoogle Microsoft
  4. Google MicrosoftSearch Microsoft-related sites using Google

Now this is one interesting combination Wondering if Google itself initiated this search or Microsoft sponsored this feature ?

These search features are not very “special”, just be aware that if you are searching for content related any of the above topics, it makes sense in using this rather than the normal search
